T-Mobile recently had an official release of Gingerbread 2.3 for the LG P-999 or G2x. The process of updating your phone to the latest version of Android can be fairly simple and painless, and is generally much safer for the device when doing it through your computer as opposed to the server wireless update. Here is what you need to do.
1. Make sure that your phone is in USB Debugging mode, and that Stay Awake is checked as well.
2. Remove any Task Managers! These can interfere with your update and brick your phone. Very important.
3. Have phone fully charged and connected to your computer via USB.
4. Download this link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VK0QPAII I used this same DL for my G2x and it worked perfectly. I attempted to download from the official LG website, and it simply took longer than I have patience for. This method is equally as efficient.
5. Unzip the file. Make sure you have WinZip installed and are using the fully free version. Once unzipped, follow the basic instructions. DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE.
